Firm attorneys, Dennis Phayer and Scott Gaspard recently represented a firm client in a two-day trial in Washington Parish with the Hon. William J. Knight presiding. The plaintiffs, survivors of a deceased patient, asserted claims of medical malpractice against the firm’s client, who allegedly caused renal failure and ultimate death of the patient. The plaintiffs asked for the statutory maximum award in closing arguments. The attorneys’ grasp of the complicated medical issues involved, including securing, preparing, and presenting at trial straightforward testimony of complex medical issues through the use of an expert, was central to the defense victory.
